About biSKITs and Gravy

Meet the group of writers sharing a bite of their work with you each week.

S.L. Jordan. The girl has no name. An enigma wrapped in an enigma. Mainly she is a lover of things. A baby hoarder, if you will. Books, Barbie’s, Pins, Patches and most recently POP FUNKO dolls have been added to her collections of collections. She is an avid fan of Crime Drama, guarantee there isn’t a show out she hasn’t tried at least once. She is obsessed with anything occult, mythical, fantasy related and historical fiction. She hails from the D, the only one that matters, Detroit. Through a twisted turn of events she has made the Bayou City her home. For now. She is passionate about Children’s Literacy, particularly for children of color, and would be a household name by now if her mother hadn’t started reading her journals.

K. Osorio-Teamer is a writer living in Texas with her family. She works a desk job by day, but is a creator by night; inventing stories, building worlds, and spinning webs that connect the people she gives life to. Her Nicaraguan culture and family inspire her to write about the realities of the immigrant and 1st generation experience. Osorio-Teamer believes in the immense power of words. She writes to heal and give life. Her author heroes include Roxane Gay and Sandra Cisneros.

Io writes short fiction and travel articles, has dabbled in translation and personal essays, but could never get the hang of poetry. She’s journeyed around the world, collecting awkward experiences that she hopes to turn into literary works of Schadenfreude. Off the page, she enjoys loitering in libraries, visiting local ones wherever she wanders. No matter where in the world life takes her, Io will always consider Houston home.

Tony Williams, native Houstonian who’s something of a book hoarder with an affinity for Cole Haan’s, Converse, and Cons. Currently obsessed by dragonflies and octopi.  Did I mention I write speculative flash and short fiction featuring black heroines with a nod to American history and culture?
